TeamHealth Wants You to Celebrate National Nurses Week!

National Nurses Day is held each year on May 6. It serves as the annual kick-off for National Nurses Week, which takes place May on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. While the first National Nurses Week was celebrated in 1954, held on the 100th anniversary of Nightingale’s famous mission to Crimea, it wasn’t until 1982 that President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation that May 6th would declare National Nurses Day as an annual celebration for the nursing profession.

National Nurses Week features a host of events across the U.S. to honor nurses for the work they do and educates the public about nurses’ role in healthcare.

The commitment nurses make to protecting, promoting and improving healthcare for all is well-recognized, as is their public service in a wide range of roles and work settings. Therefore, it is only fitting to take one week each year to celebrate nurses and the vital roles they play in healthcare.

In honor of National Nurses Day, TeamHealth’s Medical Call Center wants nurses to know how much their commitment to providing quality care is appreciated.

If you are a nurse, we want to celebrate National Nurses Day with you. Tell us why you became a nurse! Visit our site to share your story today. All nurses who submit their story will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card!
